Pete 'Robbo' Robinson

Robbo started playing paintball just outside
London, England in 1987 when his boxing
club decided to have a day out after his brother
John had introduced him to paintball the
month before; it didn't take too many games

before he was completely hooked, he then put
away his gloves and picked up a paintball
marker.

 

He played his first tournament in the UK in 1988
and along with his brother John, created his first
paintball team, NWC. They went onto become one of the UK and Europe's top pro teams for well over 10 years. He quickly established himself as one of the country's top pro players before eventually being asked by Billy and Adam Gardner to join their All American paintball team who were the then current world champions; he had shot both of them out during one of the games thus sealing his American adventure.

Pete quickly established himself as one of the All American's top players before being headhunted by Renick Miller of the Chicago based Aftershock. He went onto win 2 world Cup winners medals and a world series medal to add to the world series medal he'd already won with the All Americans.

 

In 1996, Robbo won his first world title at Jerry Braun's Orlando World Cup also winning the team's MVP [Most Valuable Player] award at the same event.
The Orlando NPPL world cup was, and still is, the highest achievement for any paintballer and so he finally achieved what he'd set out to do, to become a world champion.
96 proved a good year for Robbo as he was also voted the world's best player in a magazine and internet poll conducted by Paintball Games International.
He duplicated his world cup winning performance achievement in 1998 when he won his second World Title event with Aftershock, once again held in Orlando.
Along with those world cup winner's medals, he won the world 7-man cup with Aftershock in Toulouse 1997 where he was also awarded the tournament's best player. In a magazine poll to list the world's greatest 200 players of all time a few years back, he was voted in at number 5 by magazine readers and internet voters from across the world.

Robbo has long been the most successful European player of all time when considering the sheer number of world and NPPL titles he has won with the All Americans and the legendary Aftershock.

But this isn't what Robbo will be mostly remembered for; during his 25 years in paintball, he has written over 350 articles most of which appeared in Paintball Games International [PGi], one of the most respected publications this sport has seen. He ended up as US editor for PGi with his articles appearing all over the world in close to 20 years of writing; the magazine folded in 2008 but he still writes for the highly-respected Paintballx3.com website after being asked by Josh Silverman and John Amodea.

 

In 2002 he created a new UK team called Nexus, after he was given the job of England coach for the inaugural XBall championships to be held in Pittsburgh. The team was made up of 7 amateurs and novices along with 3 pros.
Robbo managed to keep the team together after the XBall event and registered Nexus to play in the NPPL in 2003.

This was a huge gamble to take because no team before, especially a Brit team that had so many amateurs and novices on board, had entered the pro division in their first year together. Most people believed they would be annihilated at every event.
In that first year in the US NPPL pro 7 man series, they were 7th ranked at the end of that first year which was an unbelievable achievement for a Brit team with so many amateur and novice players on board.
